This week the Blacks ladies took on the Southern Tigers at Morphett Vale. The team arrived in good spirits ready to play and the first few minutes of the game showed just that. Thanks to a massage from Hail Storm Halyz I got the ball rolling with a quick two, followed by Eager Beaver Dani, Lollipop Laura (aka Baby Huey), Adrienne ‘Rocky’ Worrell and another from Dan and we were up 10-0 within minutes. From there we didn’t let up, up 31-7 at the end of the first quarter. Eager Beaver Dani having a fantastic return game with 13 points in the first.

The second quarter saw us continue to push, Lollipop Laura showing us what she is capable of with a 12-point quarter and the opposition had no idea how to stop her! We finished the quarter up 59-15.

With everyone up and about at half time buoyed by our first half, we started the third the same way we started the game, with 6 quick points to Stacey ‘Coast-to-Coast’ Francechinis, 2 to Eager Beaver and 2 to Lollipop Laura and the Tigers had no choice but to call a quick time out. The avalanche didn’t stop there with another 6 points piled on before the Tigers knocked down a big 3 to stem the tide – their only points for the quarter. We finished the third up 81-18, with some relentless defence. The quarter saw Coast-to-Coast Stacey get a block at one end and lay it up at the other on more than more occasion….she wasn’t the only one….Lollipop Laura also flexed her muscles with an amazing coast to coast play!

After the bigs dominated for three quarters our favourite Pokemon Evie, and myself Tammy ‘The Fugitive’ Walker (thanks to another quick shoulder rub down from Hail Storm Haylz), decided it was time to run and had 10 and 8 points respectively in the last. We weren’t the only ones running though, with each fast break resulting in a wave of black guernseys backing each other up on every play. We finished the game with a whopping 104-26 win.

Even more pleasing than the win was the spread of scorers. Rocky having a ripper game with 8 points, Our Favourite Pokemon battled hard for 12, myself and Lollipop hit 20 each, Coast-to-Coast found some good form with 21 and Eager Beaver Dani had a stellar return game with 23 points. On top of that we had no one in foul trouble – who-hoo!

Looking forward to next weeks challenge as we take on Centrals at Port Adelaide.

Go Blacks!
