FAST4

For the first time, the AU Tennis Club is giving social members the opportunty to take part in a 4 week social competition - Fast4. As this is a pilot program, the competition is limited to 4 teams only.

What is FAST4?
Fast4 is a modified version of the sport with modified rules. See below for more details:

RULES AND REGULATIONS
  • Play Lets (in doubles either of the receiving pair can play the let)
  • No AD scoring (at deuce “next point wins” and receivers decide which side)
  • Tiebreaker at 3 games all (first to 5 points)
    • 2 points serving each (starting deuce side)
    • If Tiebreaker reaches 4-4 it’s “next point wins” and players spin racquet with winning pair deciding who serves; receivers decide which side.
  • First to 4 games wins the set
    • There are some extra twists if you’re game:
    • Scoring to be numerical (1,2,3, game) rather than 15,30,40
 
MATCH STRUCTURE AND DURATION
  • An average set takes approx. 15 minutes with longer sets taking up to 22 minutes. It is recommended that all matches should be completed within 60 – 90 minutes.
  • For this program a ‘Rubber’ will consist of a doubles game to a single FAST 4 set
  • Only 2 courts to be used as other 4 will be used for social tennis

POINT STRUCTURE

Rubbers
  • 2 points for RUBBER each win
  • 1 point for a draw
  • 0 points for lose
Match Results

Results from all ‘rubbers’ added up and the team with the most, wins the MATCH and receives 2 points. If there is a draw each team will receive 1 point each.
If at the end of the 3 week competition, there is a draw with the final places, a count back to rubbers won will be conducted. The team with the higher rubber results shall be placed higher.
If a team forfeits a match the result will be recorded as: 12 – 0 and therefore the other team would receive 2 points for the match.
If a rubber must be forfeited due to injury or lack of players, the result will be recoded as: 4 – 0 and the other team would receive 2 points for the rubber.

TERMS
  • Rubber equals two players from one team verses two players from another team
  • Match equals the completion six matches between the same two teams on the night
  • Round equals the completion of all scheduled matches between for that week

TEAM REQUIREMENTS AND REGISTRATIONS
  • Teams will be required to play with 4 players on the night but can register up to 6 so that they have fill ins available.
  • Competition team numbers are limited to 4
  • All players need to be a current financial member of the AU Tennis Club
  • Teams need to registered via the AU Sport Online System
  • There will be a team fee of $20 per team. Teams will not be confirmed until payment has been received and it will be a case of ‘first in best dressed’.
  • Each team will need to nominate a Team Captain who is responsible for registering and naming players. They will also be the main point of contact for the FAST4 Manager (ie if games are cancelled due to weather, the FAST4 Manger will contact the Team Captain and not all players)
  • All players who take part all agree to the AU Sport Code of Conduct and all policies and rules for the AU Tennis Club and the Fast4 competition.
PRIZES
Registration Fees will pooled together and offered as prize money in the following way:
Total prize pooled valued at $80
  • 1st place = $40
  • 2nd place = $30
  • 3rd place = $10
  • 4th place = $0

Singles Total prize pool valued at $30

  • 1st place: $20
  • ​2nd place: $10
