From AULC to NZ

Posted By Sports Development Officer on 10/07/2017

Congratulations to University of Adelaide alumni and former AU Lacrosse Club member, Jess Page, who has been selected to represent New Zealand at the Lacrosse World Championships being held at Surrey Sports Park, Guilford, UK, 12 to 22 July.

Jess says “I’m very proud to represent New Zealand and play the sport I love at the highest level. The NZ team has been working hard – I’ve been in Auckland training with the team every weekend in the build-up to the games.”

Jess held a number of key roles at the AU Lacrosse Club during her time at the club, including President. “Jess was a strong leader for the AU Lacrosse Club and we are pleased to see that she is succeeding in her chosen sport…even if it is for the Kiwis” Mike Daws, AU Sport General Manager, cheekily said.

Those who play Lacrosse at a national level in New Zealand do not get paid to play or train, and it is costing Jess $10 000 to take part in the World Championships. If you would like to support Jess cover the costs in representing New Zealand, you can donate to ‘Go Fund Me’ page at https://www.gofundme.com/jessplayslax.
