On Wednesday night, the Mens Division 3 Blacks team travelled to Marion in search of their Winter season's maiden victory. A pre-game scouting report from D. Linn revealed that their opposition, the Forestville Eagles, were currently sitting second on the ladder, with one of their players having dropped 35 points the week prior. Despite this, the boys were feeling confident, coming off last week’s strong showing, which ended in a one point loss to the equally strong Adelaide Church Allstars.
From the tip, Forestville showed why they deserved their high ladder position, jumping to a quick 8-0 lead. However, after a settling timeout and wise words from club president and leading scorer Chris ‘C-money’ McMichael, the boys in Black were able to regain composure and end the quarter going bucket for bucket. As the game went on, the story that prevailed was Forestville making tough contested shots while the Blacks missing open looks. This being the case, the true nature of the game wasn’t reflected on the scoreboard with the Eagles consistently edging further away as the Blacks continued to battle and give effort on the defensive end.
Final result: Forestville 66 defeated Adelaide Uni 34
Best: E. Wiese (FEBC) A. Thomson (AU) C. McMichael (AU)
