The University of Adelaide IV Netball team is all set for the first round of the Varsity Challenge Cup this Friday.
“The difficult part of this competition is that you just don’t know what the opposition is going to be like”, says team manager Hayley Kroon. “Our team has had limited training sessions but has come together really well. Everyone is looking forward to the match”. Since the 14 girls in the squad come from 12 different clubs, the training has focused on getting to know each other and working out team structures. Under the guidance of Head Coach, Sue Jones, the team will have one last hit out tonight against Woods Panthers AMND tram, which will really show how the team has come together.
From the squad of 14, a team of 10 has been named and will be led by Captain, Emma Borlace and Vice-Captain, Emily Johnson when they tackle Monash University at Priceline Stadium, home of the Adelaide Thunderbirds at 2pm on Friday.
If the girls win this knock out game, they will travel to Melbourne University, which beat AUN 40-22 in their round last week.
There are a number of ways you can show your support to the girls and pride for the University:
- Get to the game
- Post a comment of support in the Facebook event
- Watch out for score updates on the day as the team is taking over one of the University’s social channels
